Lightning Strike 207

On the night of Sept 4, 2012, during a severe thunderstorm, the kitchen plumbing vent pipe above 207B was struck by lightning. Smoke was soon seen and 911 was called.

 

1. Insurance company notified 9-5-12.
2. Water leak repaired and water restored to 207.
3. Damaged plumbing vent pipe replaced.
4. Water removed from floor in 107 9-4-12.
5. All opened and/or damaged areas left open to dry, pending further inspection.

 

Scorched areas on each side of front entry 207.

 

 

 

Burnt vent pipe and damaged water pipe. New vent pipe and repaired water pipe.

 

 

 

 

Update: 

On Oct 9, 2012 our insurance company closed our claim, having finished the investigation and finding that the damage was much less than our deductable.
